Authentications

Art. 2703 paragraph 2 of the Civil Code reads: "the authentication consists of the attestation by a public official that the underwriting has been affixed in his presence. The public official shall first ascertain the identity of the person underwriting".

The most frequently requested authentication services at the Consulate General are the following:

Signature authentication: the Italian citizen must come in person at the Consulate General, by appointment, with the deed or document on which the signature will be affixed, along with a valid identification document.

The appointment must be booked through the application system "Prenota Online". For the signature authentication, Art. 24 of the Table of Consular Fees applies. Payment is accepted only in cash in Canadian dollars.

Photo authentication: consists in the attestation by a public official that the photograph is that of the person concerned, along with their personal information: name, surname, place and date of birth. The Italian citizen must come in person to the General Consulate, by appointment, with a valid identification document and two identical photographs to be authenticated.

The appointment must be booked through the application system "Prenot@mi". For the signature authentication, Art. 66B of the Table of Consular Fees applies. Payment is accepted only in Canadian dollars and in cash.
