Foreign educational qualifications are not automatically recognized in Italy; therefore it is necessary to request the equivalence which involves different paths, depending on whether the recognition will give legal value to the diploma or will allow obtaining access to public selections or specific benefits.
In order to obtain the recognition of diplomas, the first step is to request a declaration of value from the competent Italian consular office in the region where the candidate has studied in officially recognized schools.
The statement of value will then provide access to the possible equivalence by the competent authorities in Italy, where, depending on cases, the applicant should contact either the Ministry of Education or the individual universities and institutions. The list of universities is available on https://www.miur.gov.it/ .
