On Friday, June 7th, Italy will celebrate the recent inscription of the Art of Lyrical Singing on the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage list with a special event at the Arena di Verona.
The concert “The Great Italian Opera Heritage of Humanity”, organized by the Ministry of Culture in collaboration with the Arena di Verona Foundation and RAI, will bring together on the same stage some of the best international Opera performers.
They will be accompanied by a large orchestra of 160 musicians and a choir of 300 artists, coming from Italian lyric-symphonic foundations, with the extraordinary participation of Maestro Riccardo Muti. The program will revisit some of the most famous pages of operatic production.
The show will be accompanied by a performance of another Italian excellence, dance, featuring stars Roberto Bolle and Nicoletta Manni. Introducing the general public to the exceptional heritage of Opera will be three different narrators, Alberto Angela, Cristiana Capotondi, and Luca Zingaretti, who will move behind the scenes of the monumental set of the Arena, a Roman architectural jewel that has been hosting operatic performances every summer since 1923.
The event will be broadcast live worldwide on Rai 1 starting from 8:35 PM on June 7th.
