- Booking an appointment
The appointment must be booked through the online system Prenot@Mi, where registration is required to access the service calendar.
The Prenot@Mi account details must exactly match the applicant’s personal data (maiden name for women). Account creation is reserved for adult citizens only. For minors under 12 years of age and minors between 12 and 18 years of age, specific procedures apply. After booking the appointment, the applicant must send to montreal.passaporti@esteri.it :
- the application form, duly completed and signed;
- a copy of the Italian passport in their possession, showing personal data, signature, and issuing authority. In case of first passport issuance, a copy of a valid ID must be sent. Total attachment size (PDF format) must not exceed 5 MB. For scans via mobile phone, you may use the scan function of Notes (iOS) or Google Drive (Android).
N.B.: Once the appointment is booked, it must always be confirmed via Prenot@Mi between the tenth and the third day before the scheduled date; otherwise, it will be automatically cancelled.
- On the day of the appointment, it is necessary to appear in person with:
- the original passport application form sent by email, duly completed and signed;
- the Italian passport or the identification document already sent by email;
- two recent identical photographs (max 6 months), front-facing and centered, with a neutral expression. The photographs must comply with the format required for the Canadian passport (5 x 7 cm);
- the payment in the exact amount — exclusively in Canadian currency — for the issuance of the passport, in cash, money order or bank draft; the fee updated quarterly can be consulted in the consular fee table, section 3, under “passport”.
Italian citizens who are parents of minor children are hereby informed that, starting from June 14, 2023, it will no longer be necessary to present the consent of the other parent for the issuance of their own identity document (passport and CIE), pursuant to Decree-Law 69/2023.
Specifically, the new regulation provides that, in the event of a concrete and current risk that, due to transfer abroad, a parent may evade the fulfillment of their obligations towards their children, the other parent may request a prohibition on the issuance of the document.
The application may be submitted to the competent judge at the Ordinary Court in which the minor has habitual residence or, if the minor resides abroad, to the Court in whose district the municipality of AIRE registration is located.
