The Italian Agency for Digitalization has signed the “Convention for the Adhesion of Public Administrations to the Public System for Digital Identity” to allow citizens to easily access consular services offered by the FAST IT portal with their own SPID references.
During the last few days the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and the Italian Agency for Digitalization have signed the “Convention for the Adhesion of Public Administrations to the Public System for Digital Identity (SPID)”. In this way the Farnesina enters the groups of public administrations that allow citizens to access with their own SPID references to the pertinent portal for the supply of services.
Italy has decided to adhere to SPID system through the FAST IT portal to facilitate consular services online. The Farnesina is considering the adoption of other portals with the registration of users, for example the portal for the accreditation of journalists. From now on Italians living abroad and wanting to use one of the services offered by the FAST IT platform will be able to choose between a new registration on the site or skip the registration and access the services by clicking “SPID” on the homepage and providing needed references.
Italians living abroad can request for a SPID identity to one of the identity providers, adding a telephone number, an email, a valid document of identity and a document with the tax code (for example the certificate provided by the Revenue Agency with the tax code approved by the consular office). The Italian Agency for Digitalization has determined the procedures to obtain the SPID references for Italians abroad. It is important to underline the utility of the SPID identity for Italians living abroad to have the access to online services offered by the Farnesina and by over 4000 Italian administrations/authorities and the ease of the procedure to obtain references.
