IMPORTANT NOTICE:
The Passport Office is currently working to improve the appointment booking system. Starting in 2025, the calendar will be re-organized in quarterly blocks, allowing users to book according to the natural expiration of their passports.
Please note that it is normally recommended to apply for a new passport starting from six months before the expiry date of the current one.
NEW APPOINTMENTS
How it works:
If your passport is expiring, you will need to identify the month of expiration and book the appointment in the corresponding block. For example:
- For passports expiring in the fourth quarter of 2025, i.e., between October 1st and December 31st, 2025, bookings will open at the beginning of the previous quarter, i.e., from July 1st, 2025;
- For passports expiring between January 1st, 2026, and March 31st, 2026, bookings will open from October 1st, 2025, and so on.
Therefore, users are advised to pay particular attention to their passport expiration date as this will be the reference for booking the renewal appointment.
For Italian citizens requesting their first passport, it is recommended to book an appointment for the period when it is anticipated to be needed.
EXISTING APPOINTMENTS
For users who already have an appointment booked for 2025, the date will be maintained. However, they will be contacted by the Passport Office staff in the coming weeks to propose a possible advance of the appointment.
APPOINTMENTS FOR MINORS
For passport requests for citizens under the age of 12, the documentation must be sent by mail, as per instructions on the page here.
For minors aged 12 to 18, it is necessary to communicate directly with the Passport Office via email at montreal.passaporti@esteri.it to obtain an appointment.
APPOINTMENTS FOR USERS 70+
