The Consul General, through the consular Team, exercises certain notarial functions as per Italian legislation. Essentially, it is the registration of public deeds, such as powers of attorney and wills, notarial deeds, and signature authentications affixed for private writings. Such functions are provided exclusively for Italian citizens that are abroad on a permanent basis or temporarily.
Alternatively, the Italian citizen abroad can formalize the deed with a notary or a lawyer, whose signature must be subsequently legalized by the Ministry of Justice of Quebec (for deeds issued in Quebec) or by Global Affairs Canada in Ottawa (for deeds issued in other Provinces)
